Bargain Christmas trees!

December 9, 2009
Lat year I searched and searched for a decent christmas tree and because I was so picky, I ended up waiting too late and there were only trees over 50 pounds or from the pound shop. The ones that were 50 pounds didn't seem worth the price at all and needless to say the pound shop ones looked like sticks you'd used to beat something. We ended up with an overdressed stick at the end of the day just to have something to make the house feel christmasy (honestly all you could see is tinsel and baubles to hide the horrible tree underneath).

So this year decide to think about things early and rather than being picky we went for the Argos bargain christmas tree for less than a tenner. To be honest when buying it the sales people themselves put you off because they are required to tell you that if you don't like it you can't bring it back, as though they are expecting you to not to like it. BUT when I got home and put up the tree I was pleasantly surprised and it was full and looked much nicer, regarding shape and fullness, than most of the christmas trees that they are selling there for 30 pounds or more. I obviously had all the christmas decorations that I needed from last year's adventure. However we still made more from old cards and shiny wrapping paper.

Zane has also really enjoyed putting it up and decorating it with his own decorations. But I'm still wondering what happened to the blank patches at the bottom of the tree where the baubles have magically disappeared!

Alternatively if that is even too much for you, you could opt for the following. Just save your beer bottles for the year and then on christmas day hey ho!

Saving on the weekly shop!

December 8, 2009
Doing the weekly shop has become somewhat exhausting and you are about to find out why. Luckily around my area I have Tesco, Iceland, Somerfield, Lidl, and Sainsbury's and lots of other small grocery shops, which gives me a world of choice. This is also how I manage to save a load of money....
Rather than going into one shop and getting everything from there I have noticed that each shop has some bargain stuff and more expensive stuff. Luckily, they don't all have the same products at bargain ...

Why doesn't God answer our prayers?

December 7, 2009
Well I've asked that question so many times...and there are so many answers to that question and so many layers to it.
First and foremost we can't expect God to answer prayers as a slave. We can't expect to get everything that we want and ask for and as soon as we ask for it. We also need to ask whether what we are asking for is right and not harmful to someone else. Now another important thing to look at is what God has promised us. He's told us that if we ask it shall be given, if we seek w...

Less priveleged

December 7, 2009
How many times do we see these charity commercials on tv and just change the channel or completely ignore them. I know that it is depressing and that if you are having a good time the last thing that you want is to feel depressed or sorry for these people. BUT

Try this ... and see if you see things in a different light...

Close your eyes

imagine that you house disappears suddenly and you are outside in the cold. No chance of anything to keep you warm, and certainly not anything clean. Imagine th...

Weight-Loss e-book

December 3, 2009

Yesterday I completed my first e-book.  I decided to start dieting using a calorie controlled diet, as that is the one that always worked for me in the past. I realized that each time I do start a new diet I end up restructuring the same tables, charts and logs and regathering other resources that I’ve used all over again and felt that it was such a waste of time as I have done over and over again. Then a thought came to mind. If you know all this and it works every time, then put it toge...

125g margarine/ butter
225g self raising flour
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
175g caster sugar

Peel, core and chop apples into small pieces.
Rub butter into flour, then mix everything else in.
Grease dish and put in oven at 170 degrees celcius. Stop cooking when cake is browned and leave to cool before digging in. This is honestly the most delicious cake ever, I've only ever tried it without the walnuts, but can imagine it to be really good with t...

CUF CUF

November 27, 2009
Going to the swim activity on Friday has now been the talk of the week for my son Zane. He mentions it daily at least and gets so excited about going and asks me on a daily basis, whether he should put on his swim suit rather than his panties.

So today was the day and he saw me packing his swim stuff. On the way to the leisure centre he asked me a number of times whather we are going swimming, just to make sure that I haven't changed my mind. Then left him at the creche while I worked off some...
